Mike Bevis had never done Muddy Buddy before and wasn’t sure who would be available to be his partner for the Chicago event so he ended up inviting three friends just in case. “When two of them said yes, I knew what I had to do,” says Bevis. “I decided to do the Bike/Run event with one buddy-Glen Desrosiers- and then Run/Run event with Kam Sarlati.”
Kam is his daughter Jessica’s boyfriend and the father-to-be of Mike’s first grandson, who is due on September 24th. “It was a great bonding experience for us,” says Bevis.
In between the two events, Bevis changed shirts and hung out in the Red Hook Beer Garden. “I was having so much fun, the first event just flew by” he remembers. “ I was definitely feeling it by the end of the Run/Run.”
But Bevis’ weekend was certainly not over yet since he had also signed up for the Rock ‘n’ Mud Challenge and was running the XSport Fitness Rock ‘n’ Roll Chicago Half Marathon on Sunday. “The Muddy Buddy and the Half Marathon are challenging,” he admits. “But it was a blast to do both because they are so different.”
